New Capital Invetment.

Leitir Mór based seafood processor completes installation of renewable energy generation capability at their premises. Oilean Mara Teoranta are pleased to announce the completion of their renewable energy generation investment programme at it’s factory in Tír an Fhia, Leitir Mór, Co Galway. The investment consisted of installation of state-of-the-art photovoltaic solar panels, combined with some additional investment in salmon processing equipment, specifically fish skinning machines. The investment was driven by the companies’ organic and sustainability ethos and also by their desire to continue to offer premium quality Irish organic salmon products to existing and new customers. The company produces premium, ‘country of origin only’ organic salmon products for export clients worldwide. Within the 100% organic ethos, there is an understanding that every opportunity for improved sustainability should be pursued. The generation of on-site renewable energy is now possible and meets our current sustainability initiatives. The grant aid received for the project was extremely important in the decision to deploy over 400 solar panels at the facility, generating over 40% of normal energy requirement. This reduces the draw from the national grid and reduces energy costs significantly. The company would like to express it’s gratitude for the support provided by BIM and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, which was critical to the delivery of investment.” The investment was completed with support from Bord Iascaigh Mhara, Ireland’s Seafood Development Agency, through the Brexit Processing Capital Support Scheme 2023, Brexit Adjustment Reserve fund from the European Union. The total grant aid approved for the project was €131,850.97 based on a proposed investment, of €306,835.92. The funding was approved for the project by Bord Iascaigh Mhara, Ireland’s Seafood Development Agency.
